Yamaha R15 India mein 2008 se jab se launch hui hai, tab se super hit rahi hai or Yamaha ka brand image strong banane mein iska kaafi big role raha hai. Ab reports hai ki Yamaha India R2 sportbike launch karne ki preparations mein hai, jo R15 se ek step abov hogi. Ye bike coming months mein festive season ke time launch hogi or India mein hi manufacture ki jayegi.
Yamaha R2 to be made in India
Yamaha R2, jiska codename 070 hai, most likely ek liquid cooled single cylinder engine ke saath aayegi, jo around 200cc (maybe thoda zyada) ho sakta hai.
Basically, ye bike un buyers ke liye hogi jo R15 se upgrade karna chahte hai, but phir bhi daily use ke liye easy or practical bike chahiye.
Performance aspect mein, R2 clearly R15 se better hogi, because R15 ka 155cc engine 18.4hp or 14.2Nm torque deta hai, or R2 isse ek proper step up offer karegi.
Yamaha maybe isliye displacement mein sirf thoda sa increase kar rahi hai so that fuel efficiency maintain rahe, jo R15 or uske sibling models ki ek big plus point hamesha se rahi hai.
But haan, jo Yamaha fans 300-400cc range mein proper upgrade expect kar rahe the, unke liye ye thoda disappointing ho sakta hai.
R2 ko completely India mein hi design or develop kiya jaayega, or iska manufacturing Yamaha ke Chennai plant mein hoga. R2 India mein toh sell hogi hi, but company ka plan hai ki is model ko other global markets mein bhi export kare.
R2 ke possible aane ki news ke baad online public speculate kar rahe hai ki maybe ye R15 ko replace kar de, but humein aisa nahi lagta according to Autocar India. India mein Yamaha ke liye R15 or uske siblings MT-15 or recently launch hui XSR155, abhi bhi kaafi popular or strong sellers hai. That's why chances kaafi kam hai ki Yamaha apni sabse successful sportbike ko axe kar usse zyada expensive bike se replace kare.
R2 first bike hogi jo Yamaha ke new 200cc engine leke aayegi, but in future isi engine ke or models bhi dekhne ko mil sakte hai. Expect ki Yamaha R2 2026 ke festive season tak showroom or rides ke liye ready ho jaayegi.
Competition ki baat karein so Yamaha R2 ka direct fight KTM RC 200 jo (Rs. 2.16 lakh) or Hero Karizma XMR 210 (Rs. 1.84-1.86 lakh) in se hogi
Yamaha NMax 155 Expected to launch in India
Abhi tak India mein Yamaha ka flagship scooter sirf Aerox 155 hi raha hai, But 2026 mein uska zyada practical sibling, NMax 155, bhi India aane ke chances hai.
Other than this Yamaha 300-450cc segment mein kuch new body styles par bhi work kar rahi hai, jaise cruiser or ADV (Both these most probably options). Haan, ye projects abhi kaafi away hai or future mein debut honge.
Company Lander 250 dual-sport ko bhi India mein introduce karne ka option explore kar rahe hai, jo Auto Expo 2025 mein pehle showcase ki ja chuki thi, aisa company ke plans se familiar people ne kaha.
